Racing 900hp Pro-4 Trucks in Freezing Conditions

Red Bull Frozen Rush was given its name for a reason. The one-of-a-kind off-road truck racing event doesn’t take place in the tropics, and the only swimming you could do is in a hot tub. In other words, “frozen” is a very literal term.

The below-freezing temperatures are something that off-road trucks were not designed for. These highly-specialized race vehicles are normally ripping through mud, dirt and sand, but at Frozen Rush they’ll be clawing through snow and ice. In the desert the goal is to keep the trucks as cool as possible, but in the New England winter the aim is just the opposite. Desert truck racers and their crews discuss the unfamiliar cold and snow of northern New England.
