Getty Images has joined LeanIn.org, a non-profit founded by Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, to try to change the way women are portrayed in stock photographs.
They have released a collection of photos that challenge these stereotypes and offer a more empowered vision of modern women and girls.
The BBC spoke to Pamela Grossman, director of visual trends at Getty Images, and Jessica Bennett, an editor for LeanIn.org.
