Stay dry with a bounce

In a quest to keep materials dry, scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology have been filming water droplets in slow motion. Some materials are so water resistant that water simply bounces off them. With some clever micro engineering the team has managed to get the drops to bounce off more quickly — and it turns out that butterflies employ the same design to keep their wings dry.
