With just days to go until the World Cup kicks off in Brazil, the BBC has been getting to know some of the local people. Thiago Firmino is a guide who runs the Santa Marta favela tour, showing visitors around the community where he grew up.
Thiago embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of Brazil with his can-do attitude, referred to locally as “jeito”, and does up to three tours a day.
He also takes groups to his home, where he teaches them to make Brazil’s most famous cocktail – the Caipirinha.
